Who we are
Andre Issa is the founding lawyer of Vanguard Law, a boutique Ontario law firm focused on employment law and civil-commercial litigation. He advises employees and employers on workplace issues, and individuals and businesses involved in civil-commercial disputes. His work ranges from terminations, severance package reviews, workplace rights, and employer obligations to breach of contract disputes, shareholder and partnership conflicts, debt recovery, and other high-stakes civil-commercial matters.
Vanguard means the group that goes first - taking the initial risk and protecting those who follow. That idea shapes Andre’s advocacy: stepping in early, confronting problems directly, and helping clients move forward with clarity when the stakes are high.
Before launching Vanguard Law, Andre led the employment law department at a full-service firm, where he managed complex, high-stakes matters. He earned First-Class Honours from the University of Liverpool, where his research on the gig economy was shortlisted for publication in the Liverpool Law Review. He was also a finalist in multiple debate competitions.
Andre pairs civility with resolve. He looks first for efficient, practical solutions, but moves decisively when negotiation is no longer enough. Clients value his clear explanations, strategic judgment, and meticulous preparation - whether he is reviewing a severance package, advising an employer on a workplace problem, negotiating an exit, drafting a demand letter, resolving a civil-commercial dispute, or advancing a claim in court.
In addition to its employment and litigation practices, Vanguard Law provides estate-planning services for clients.
Outside the office, Andre can usually be found in the gym, reading business books, belting out indie-band vocals, or cheering for Argentina’s national soccer team. He also demystifies employment and business law on social media through punchy, jargon-free videos that help people understand their rights and responsibilities.
